A brave step

The decision to have therapy is a brave, often daunting step that deserves due respect and care.

Over the course of 15 years in professional counselling I have developed a warm and collaborative process of support. I provide one-to-one therapy for adults from two peaceful, private locations in London where you can talk openly about what’s on your mind. Alternatively I offer online and over the phone sessions.

The quality of the relationship with your therapist is the most important factor in successful therapy. Before you commit to ongoing sessions, it is important that you get a sense of how I work and whether you feel comfortable working with me. I offer an initial free 30 minute consultation, to give you that opportunity, before you make any commitment.

What to expect

When we are in distress, there is a particular power to sharing your thoughts and feelings in the presence of someone trained to listen. Counselling and psychotherapy offer a safe, confidential setting to talk about what might be causing you difficulties.

I will support you to explore and express how you are feeling at the right pace for you, without fear of judgement, rejection or of hurting someone else. Simply being given the opportunity to express your feelings in this way can provide the relief you need.

Some common
areas of practice

Relationship difficulties

Relationships can be a source of great joy and support, but they can also bring stress, misunderstandings and conflict.  You may be struggling with communication, trust, intimacy or repeated  behavioural patterns that seem to sabotage your best intentions. Therapy offers support to explore these issues, understand underlying dynamics and develop healthier ways of relating.

Struggling with loss, including bereavement and divorce

Loss can take many forms, from the death of a loved one to the end of a significant relationship through divorce or separation.  Grief can bring a wave of different emotions - sadness, anger, confusion - and everyone experiences it differently. Therapy provides a supportive environment to process these feelings and begin to find a way forward at your own pace.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural response to stress but, when it becomes overwhelming, it can feel like a constant state of dread or worry.  It can show up in many ways - from difficulty concentrating or sleeping, to panic attacks, phobias or obsessive thoughts and behaviours.  The world around you feels unsafe or unpredictable and you may be constantly on the look out for what could go wrong. However your anxiety manifests, therapy can help you explore the root of your fear and learn effective coping strategies so you feel more grounded and confident in daily life.
